I've spent the evening campaigning in Mackworth. Amongst other things I have been explaining to local people Labour's plans to refurbish the Prince Charles Avenue district centre. We would like to give the local shops a makeover,re-organise the parking, install a pedestrian crossing and various other small improvements to make it more welcoming and user friendly.

The Labour Party committed itself to these improvements when it had control of the council. Unfortunately for the people of Mackworth the Labour budget was rejected by the Lib Dems when they gained control. Hopefully Labour can regain control on 6th May and implement these improvements.

Local residents I have spoken to seem quite keen on the idea.
